Since it is coming up on June and we were originally going to launch this spring I wanted to update everyone on what is happening behind the scenes with War of Wings. As you know, since signing with the publisher, Brown Books, they set me up with two incredible minds in the publishing world. They are Janet Harris, Ph. D who teaches the master's program in literature at SMU and Tim Boswell, who does the same at University of North Texas. I couldn't have asked for a better team.
With that being said, the three of us decided as a group that the original manuscript (which I worked on for over 3 years) should be changed from third person omniscient to third person limited. For those that don't know what this means, third person omniscient is a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story, as opposed to third person limited which adheres to only a couple character's perspectives (in our case Lucifer and Gabriel). The market is more inclined to enjoy our new version according to these editors and I totally agree with them when I think of my own favorite novels right now. As much as I would love to have already released, I know the hard work of this will pay off in the end in terms of the quality of the novel.
What does this mean to the reader? Well, this will make it a much more compelling read in our opinion with more "showing" rather than "telling" allowing the reader to make their own judgements and be plugged directly into this world in Heaven. I have been going through each chapter and doing this after my day job each day and it is taking quite some time. At the same time I am "raising the stakes" as much as I can. I am currently on chapter 21 of 33. Once this is complete there will be a final copy edit then we are ready for print, which will take place over seas and be shipped to us. It will all be worth it I know in my heart. I am so excited to get this out to everyone and I am forever grateful for your support in getting us this far in this amazing journey! I literally cannot wait and it means so much to me that you all helped me get to this point! I will start updating all of the Kickstarter supporters more often to keep you in the loop as things progress! Thank you so much again!
